FAQ

How can I help?

If you’re willing to transcribe, leave a message specifying which episode you’d like to claim. Please check the this list first to make sure the episode has not already been transcribed or claimed.

There’s no strict deadline, but I will generally remove the claim if I don’t hear back in a month.

How do I format the transcripts?

I’m not picky about format since this is a volunteer job and the main purpose is content, not presentation, so you may use your own discretion. As an example, here is a transcript I did for an old fandom.

The only thing I ask is that you remain as ship/character-neutral as possible. Stick to actions and try not to include any exposition or speculation about thoughts or motivations, unless it is obvious and pertinent to the scene/line.

Also, please omit song lyrics when transcribing musical performances. The title of the song and a listing of the performer(s) is sufficient.

How do I send the transcript once I’m done?

Upload the transcript (any text/document format will do) to sendspace, mediafire, etc, and use the submit feature to send the link. If you’d prefer an email to send it to, I’d be happy to provide one.

What do I do if there’s an error in one of the transcripts?

Send a message pointing out where (episode and line) the error occurs.

Can I repost the transcripts to an external site?

Unless you are the original transcriptionist, please refrain from reposting. Feel free to link back to the transcripts posted within this tumblog. If, for whatever reason, you must repost them, please ask the original transcriptionist for permission first.

Can I use the transcripts for a project I’m working on?

Yes, as long as you are not profiting financially from this project. If you are relying on significant portions of the transcript, please credit where possible.
